The Perceived Importance of Cybercrime Control among Police Officers: Implications for Combatting Industrial Espionage

The current research explored the predictors of how police officers perceived importance combatting cybercrime. This is an era in which industrial security threatened by perpetrators who use advanced techniques to steal information online. Understanding law enforcement view control cybercrimes, especially those that confidential business information, can inform espionage prevention and help maintain a nation’s competitiveness world market. We surveyed convenience sample South Korean attending training at Police Human Resources Development Institute (PHRDI) using paper-and-pencil questionnaire. results indicated officers’ perceptions colleagues’ organizational views on cybercrime significantly impacted their attitudes. Additionally, seriousness online theft (in this paper, we terms property interchangeably) computer proficiency were also found affect cybercrimes. conclude suggesting take proactive approach prevent respond crimes through education public awareness programs, could positively impact espionage.
